A "Preauthorization" is a process used by your health insurer or plan to determine if a health care service, treatment plan, prescription drug or durable medical equipment is medically necessary. Sometimes called prior authorization, prior approval or precertification. Your traditional health insurance or plan may require preauthorization for certain services before you receive them, except in an emergency. Preauthorization isn’t a promise your health insurance or plan will cover the cost.

There is no preauthorization ever needed for outpatient services covered by the Essentials  or Family plans featured on kgsins.com.

For inpatient or catastrophic care, shared by a Zion membership, there is no formal preauthorization for most services, but if in doubt, be sure to check with Zion or us for any preauthorization needed.

For inpatient or catastrophic care, covered by SelectCare preauthoriztion is often required.  For more information please contact us at [email protected].
